Jolley’s Corner Pharmacy

Dean Jolley, RPh : Salt Lake City, Utah

Last year, Jolley's Corner Pharmacy in Salt Lake City celebrated an important milestone – 50 years in the pharmacy business. Today, Jolley's patrons can still step back in time, viewing a display of antique mortars & pestles, prescriptions logs and assorted bottles. Pharmacist Dean Jolley's father, Joel, established the practice in 1954, providing customized medications well before the advent of manufacturing. Dean and his two brothers, Mardy and Bryce, each are carrying on the family tradition with a Jolley pharmacy of their own.

Times have changed and so has Jolley's pharmacy. While embracing the past, Dean also has incorporated modern touches in his 2,500-square-foot practice. His compounding lab features contemporary compounding equipment including 100-and 300- count capsule machines and an ointment mill. Aseptic compounding is done in a hood environment.

The pharmacy compounds a variety of medications including: pain management preparations and bio-identical hormones. Dean credits a very talented pharmacy staff, including Jeremy Lundevall, CPhT, named PCCA's February 2004 Technician of the Month, in helping him to build Jolley's into a thriving practice. A PCCA member since 1981, Dean has worked to educate his community's physicians about the options they have to serve patients. "What might work for 90 percent of the population isn't going to work for the other 10 percent," says Dean. "We're here to provide patients with the medications suited to their needs."
